About the School of Environmental and Interdisciplinary Sciences
The School of Environmental and Interdisciplinary Sciences has a strong background
in both teaching and research.
The school academic focus is wide ranging, from communicating science, environmental sciences, environmental health, and environment and public health protection which reflects the interdisciplinary perspective of the school. Staff in the school lead and contribute widely to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including professionally accredited programmes and have strong links with industry, national and local governments and professional bodies (Institute for Environmental Health and Institute for Environmental Sciences).
The School has a large number of active researchers including PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, research technicians and academic members of staff. Environmental research is principally managed through the Centre for Research in Environmental Sciences (CRES) via research groups (see Air Quality Research Group, Environment and Development Research Group, Geography and Environmental Management, Severn Estuary Research Group, Unit of Applied Epidemiology, the Water Quality Research Group and the Communicating Science research group. Members of the school collaborate closely with other research centres (e.g. Centre for Research in Plant Science) and other research groups (e.g. Advanced Sensors Research Group, Centre for Research in Analytical Materials and Sensor Science). Please see the Faculty research pages for more information on research.
