World leaders in industrially relevant research and teaching in chemical engineering and the environment

Organisation

The Environmental Technology Centre (ETC) in the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science is a multidisciplinary group of staff whose expertise covers the broad range of environmental protection technologies.

Environmental Technology Centre

The Environmental Technology Centre has developed a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology (MEng), Environmental Technology (MSc), and Environmental Management and Technology (EMT) part-time modular MSc programme.

The main research themes are in cleaner process design for environmental performance, technologies for abatement, treatment and remediation, the measurement and modelling of environmental transport and dispersion processes, and risk assessment for the environmental impacts of industrial activities.

ETC draws on funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Research Councils and other research sponsors in central government departments and the European Union. The overall objectives of the Centre are focused on the development of an integrated approach to pollution control and environmental protection.
