In South Korea, the total number of applications for electric vehicle (EV) incentives this year has quadrupled to 1,200 compared to last year, just within 3 weeks of opening the application. This is because the amount of incentives for each municipal region has slightly increased. The Ministry of Environment has decreased the charging cost by 44% starting January and is planning on adding more than 10,000 charging facilities by the end of the year in order to encourage the use of EVs.

The share of EVs in Europe has exceeded 1% of the total vehicles driven on the continent. European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has forecasted that the share of EVs in the European market will grow to 8% by 2025. Furthermore, Norway and the Netherlands are developing legislation that will ban the sale of all diesel- and gasoline-run vehicles by 2025.

  • Commercialization of 60kW charging system with charging efficiency of over 90% and development of an EV charging infra system and an electric connector needed to supply electricity to EVs.

  • Development of an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) with a small, highly-efficient on-board generator, improving the short distance range of EVs.

  • Developed a highly-efficient heating and air conditioning technology by using HVAC(Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system technology for EREV

Modification technology of a small delivery vehicle into an EV

Technical Overview

  • Through the development of and an empirical operation of a modification kit which allows for a modification of a small delivery vehicle (load of 1t) into an EV, this technology evaluates the functions of modified EVs and proposes a feasible standard for such functions as well.

Strengths compared to the existing technologies

  • Contribute to the dissemination of EVs by modifying existiing vehicles
  • No need to build a separate charging infrastructure by implementing a charging system that uses the existing charging infrastructure
