ENDS publishes second special report on the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
ENDS has published a second special report on the landmark UK Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (the CRC), coinciding with its official launch on 1 April
The CRC is one of the most innovative and ambitious attempts by government anywhere to tackle greenhouse gas emissions outside of the power and heavy industrial sectors. It requires some 5,000 public and private sector organisations to measure and report their energy consumption, and from next year to participate in an emissions trading market.
Following on from its first special report on the CRC, published in April 2009, the new report takes stock of progress and identifies the major challenges facing participants.
The full report is freely available on the ENDS Report website. Highlights include:
- Update on final pre-launch revisions to the small-print of the CRC rule-book
- Summary of key steps in preparing for CRC compliance
- Analysis of key problem areas, including status of private equity firms and landlord-tenant responsibilities
- Carbon trading lessons from Yorkshire pioneers
